Antique Georgian Era Foiled Garnet Statement Earrings, Keshi Pearl Italian Jewelry 18th Century

A museum-worthy 300 year old pair of solid 9k gold earrings! Coming from the South of Italy, this antique Georgian era 9k gold earrings are set with foiled garnets and natural keshi pearls.

The earrings are a perfect example of 18th century Sicilian regional Italian jewelry and are preserved in a superb state! It is a wearable fairy tale and perfect candidate for evening or wedding special something!

The earrings have a so-called girandole design which consists of the main body with three descending pendants. They are set with pink garnet stones and natural pearls. The garnets are set on foil - it is an old technique which gives the stones an extra depth and shine. The foil acts as a mirror reflecting light behind the stone.

The stones are preserved in a perfect state, no water damage or replacements. The pearls are natural (which was the only option 300 years ago..) and are drilled through according to Sicilian regional goldsmith technique. They are connected to the earring body with a thin wire.

The ear wires were possible replaced during the long life of these earrings.
