Antique Georgian Allegory of Love Miniature Pendant, Handmade 1800s Polychrome Painting, Foiled Quartz Pendant, Antique Portuguese Jewelry

An extremely well-preserved Georgian era miniature portrait. This unique jewel dates circa 1810's and comes from a private collection in Portugal, Lisbon. It will celebrate it's 215th birthday in only 2 years from now!

A young girl is depicted standing by the flaming stella offering a chalice. She wears a flowing white dress with a red ribbon and her hair are adorned with a floral band. The miniature is known as 'Allegory of Love' and is a typical example of 18th/19th century sentimental jewelry. Such jewels were custom made and distributed amongst family and friends as love, engagement or other sentimental tokens.

Unsigned, this amazing polychrome portrait is beautifully framed in solid silver frame with a sparkling foiled quartz ornament and a very decorative lace-like bow on the top.

The pendant is in it's original state with no alterations. No damage or wear to the beveiled rock crystal window - it is in a virtually as-new condition. The painting has no water of humidity damage. The quartz has no tinting, humidity or other discolorations to their foil. It is a beautiful example of antique sentimental jewelry! Will make a beautiful collectors item!
